About Me

Hello! My name is Alex Meeler. I’m a Chicago-based Software Engineer with a passion for photography, music, and art. I made this website mainly because I didn’t want my photography work to keep collecting dust as it has been since I started. Sometimes it’s hard for me to justify putting anything I make on display, but it’s equally as annoying to let it build up without sharing. If you know me in real life, you know that I have no issue sharing my thoughts; might as well share everything else online!

I enjoy very dreamy, nostalgic, and uncanny photos so I’m drawn to film photography and film-based aesthetics. Even though I didn’t grow up in a city, I’m an urbanist at heart so architecture and energy tend to be a large part of my photography. Impressionism is cool so maybe somewhere deep down that influences me; ultimately though, I take a picture whenever I feel something about the scene, whether I can put it into words or not.

For the technically minded, this website was built entirely by Claude Code based off of Figma mockups I made. I like software as a career but when I’m not doing my job, I like to focus on my hobbies. Claude Code was super handy here since I didn’t have to worry about all of the technical details allowing me to purely focus on the design and functionality. Even though at this point of time it’s just a static site, I chose the Astro framework and Tailwind CSS since they’re fun modern technologies that will allow me to do more complicated stuff in the future if I want.
